Gladys Stonbely Lutfy, 80, of Florence, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in Florence, SC. She was born August 27, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Fadowa Karzon Stonbely.

Mrs. Lutfy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and was an active leader in the Legion of Mary Club. She had a passion for world travel and loved to laugh, entertain and live life to its fullest. She took great joy in participating in the lives and activities of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also a woman of great faith, whose devotion to God was a central focus of her life. She worked and retired as Controller for PDRTA in Florence.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her devoted husband, Alfred Lutfy; beloved brothers-in-law, Joseph Lutfy and John Jebaily, Sr.; and beloved sisters-in-law, Lorraine Lutfy and Bernice Lutfy.

Survivors include: her two loving sons - Alfred "Al" Lutfy of Brooklyn, NY and Stephen Lutfy of Columbia; adored grandchildren - Stephen Christopher Lutfy and Christine Renee Lutfy both of Columbia; two dear in-laws Sylvia Lutfy Jebaily of Florence and Robert Lutfy of Sarasota, FL; and several generations of beloved nieces and nephews of the Lutfy and Jebaily sides of her family.

The family extends their deepest gratitude and appreciation for the loving and devoted care provided to Gladys from Mrs. Debra Starks, her caregiver for the past 10 years.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY later in the week. A Vigil and Rosary service will be held 7:30 - 9:00 PM, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Cain Funeral Home Chapel.
